UAE abrogates partial embargo of importing Saudi meats
United Arab Emirates-Saudi Arabia, Economics, 12/21/2004
The ministry of agriculture in the United Arab Emirates UAE has ended the embargo imposed on importing sheep, geese, cows, camels and gazelles from Saudi Arabia following news that reported cases on the mouth and foot disease are receding in most parts of the kingdom.
But the decision excluded Jeizan area which is considered an infected area where all preventive measures were taken to prevent the dissemination of this disease to neighboring areas.
One official at the UAE ministry explained that ending the partial embargo was taken after the arrival of information from the Saudi veterinary authorities and the world organizations for livestock health.
The United Arab Emirates imposed embargo on importing the said types of cattle from Saudi Arabia in October.
