Ahmed Goweili: Cairo meeting proposes Arab statistical network
Regional, Economics, 12/20/2004

"Establishing an Arab statistical information network tops the agenda of the 27th session of the Arab Heads of Statistical Bodies that opened in Cairo yesterday," Secretary-General of the Arab Council for Economic Unity Ahmed Goweili said.

He added that the idea of the network is to meet the need for comprehensive and accurate data on economic, political and environment issues.

"We would like a data bank linked to a developed network in all the Arab countries for the exchange of information, as well as economic and trade exchange. This will also help create another bank for Arab statistical expertise," Goweili added.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL), will also discuss papers submitted by some of the Arab statistical bodies, so that participants can benefit from their expertise, besides finding solution to the theoretical and practical problems they face.
