EU approves neighbourhood action plans

Action plans projected as part of the European neighbourhood policy, consisting of a raft of political, economic and social opportunities to Europe's neighbours, including Morocco, was approved Friday by the European summit in Brussels.

The action plans were drawn up to meet the specific and "different" needs of seven countries neighbouring to Europe: Morocco, Tunisia, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Israel, Ukraine and Moldavia.

The action plan concerning Morocco is designed to support a stronger integration of Moroccan economic and social structures to those of the Union.

The deepening of Morocco-EU relations enables a concrete evolution towards an advanced status of Morocco through rapprochement of Morocco's legislation, norms and standards to those of Europe.

The action plans include the possibility for the seven countries to take part in EU programs and participate in the European Single Market.

A financial support is also scheduled to back the implementation of the actions projected part of the Action Plan, said the European Commission, adding that its priorities include the negotiation of an accord on the liberalization of exchanges in the sector of services.
