Morocco, Senegal sign series of cooperation agreements
Morocco-Senegal, Politics, 12/20/2004

Morocco and Senegal signed, on Friday, four accords on judicial cooperation and a fifth accord on culture and education during the 13th session of the Moroccan-Senegalese high joint commission held Friday in Rabat.

The accords are meant to encourage bilateral cooperation in training, information and experience exchange, and improve the quality of services in prisons to facilitate inmates reinsertion in social life.

They are also aimed at fostering exchange of expertise and organization of scientific meetings in order to benefit of the specificities of the two countries' judicial systems.

The accords provide as well for assistance to detainees and transfer of persons condemned to various sentences in Morocco and Senegal.

Besides, the two parties agreed to implement the culture and education cooperation accord for 2005-2007, which would allow a better exchange of programs.

The high joint commission meeting was chaired by Moroccan Foreign Minister, Mohamed Benaissa, and his Senegalese counterpart Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, who met with several Moroccan officials on the sidelines of the commission.

Gadio probed on Friday with Moroccan Secretary of State in charge of Rural development, Mohamed Mohattane, bilateral cooperation in agriculture and rural development, particularly in irrigation and breeding.
