Khan Younis eulogizes its killed people, Israel released 170 detainees

People of Khan Younis to the north of Gaza eulogized their 11 persons who were killed during the recent Israeli invasion of their area which had started on Friday and ended yesterday at dawn and also resulted in injuring 55 persons of the people of the camp.

Palestinian sources said the invasion resulted in destroying 45 houses and in displacing 56 families.

The Palestinian people there appealed the international community their help to enable them bury their children who were killed during the Israeli invasion of the camp after the occupation forces converted the camp's cemetery into a field for their operations. For its part, al-Aqsa group of the Fatah movement yesterday vowed to direct a painful blow to the occupation as an answer to the massacre committed against the people of Khan Younis.

In a statement, the groups announced utmost alert in all positions across the Palestinian territories and called on the Palestinian Authority to adopt the will of the people and not to accept "the American- Zionist plans," which calls for halting resistance and the Intifada.

For its part, Ezz Edine al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Islamic resistance Hamas, claimed responsibility for attacking Sderout town inside the green line by three Qassam missiles, in revenge for the people of Khan Younis.

News reports in Gaza said that the Israeli missile bombardment resulted in injuring two Israelis. The Israeli forces retaliated to this attack by missile shelling by Apache planes against Tel al-Zaatar and Beit Lahia to the north of Gaza.

Meantime, and concerning developments on the issue of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, the Israeli authorities announced it will release 170 Israeli detainees as "a good intention and friendship" addressed to the Egyptian President Hosni Muabarak for releasing the Israeli spy Azzam Azzam.

A statement by the office of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon said that the detainees who were chosen will be released according to several criterion.
