63 Iraqis killed in two attacks in Najaf, Karbala

The total number of Iraqi victims of the two booby trapped cars in Karbala and Najaf increased yesterday to 63 and 150, according to a new calculation for the number of victims.
One Iraqi journalist said that the Najaf explosion resulted in 15 death and 56 wounded and took place in a trade area to the south of the old down while the second explosion in Karbala, which took place two hours later, resulted in 48 killing and 94 wounded.
Some 30 Iraqi civilians were killed at least in a strong explosion in Banat al-Hassan ( al-Hassan daughters ) street to the south of Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf city, to the south west of Iraq. Iraqi security and medical sources said that a booby trapped car blew up in the street and resulted in killing the civilians and injuring more other 65.
The explosion took place a short time after one booby trapped car exploded in a coach station in Kerblaa to the south of Baghdad. The attack resulted in killing 14 persons and injuring scores. Kerbalaa position is situated 200 meters from Imam al-Abbas shrine.
The two attacks took place after a series of field developments, including in particular the American planes bombardment of the southern and eastern quarters of Falluja city.
In al-Ramadi, one Iraqi woman was killed and two children were injured in clashes which took place to the east of the city. Several American soldiers were hit by a bomb explosion in one Hemphy military vehicle to the northern East of Baqouba.
In Beji, three Iraqis were killed after one American vehicle was exposed to an explosion to the north of the city. One Iraqi was killed and another was injured in Bald to the north of Baghdad after one explosive went off targeting one American vehicle to the north of the city.
In al-Musl two booby trapped cars went off when two American convoys were running in crossroads in the downtown of the city to the north of Iraq. No news were reported on the volume of casualties resulting from the explosion.
In another development, clashes erupted between gunmen and members if the Iraqi national guard in the main street to the Northern east of the city.
Meantime, Ankara announced the killing of five Turkish security men and two Iraqi drivers in an attack against their vehicle in al-Musil. The Turkish foreign ministry said that three Turkish security men fled, two of the headed for Baghdad and the third returned back to Turkey.
In Baghdad, three members of the higher commission for the elections in Iraq were killed in the vanguards square when gunmen attacked the car which they were riding.
Meantime, gunmen belong to three armed groups in Iraq said they kidnapped 10 Iraqis working with one American security company, threatening a voided tape to kill the 10 hostages if the company will not halt its activities in Iraq. N.
