Kuwaiti papers welcome Mrs. Mubarak's visit

Kuwait's newspapers yesterday welcomed a visit to be paid by Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak to the Gulf state Saturday on the occasion of her selection as the celebrity of Al-Qarin cultural festival for this year.

Al-Anbaa paper quoted Culture Minister Farouk Hosni as saying Mrs. Mubarak hailed the festival organisers' gesture to select the president's spouse as this year's celebrity.

He referred to the two pilot projects she had adopted, the Reading for All and the Family Library.

Al-Siyasa said that Mrs. Mubarak is appreciated worldwide for her efforts in upgrading Egyptian women and in the childhood domain, reviewing her activities over the last twenty four years.

Mrs. Mubarak will be having a very busy schedule, including a meeting with Premier Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, during her three- day trip to Kuwait.

Mrs. Mubarak, who was invited by Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahd, the wife of Crown Prince Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, will have a warm welcome party extended to her by Sheikha Latifa and other members of Kuwait's ruling family.

In the evening she will attend a dinner banquet given in her honour by Sheikha Latifa.

Her meeting with Premier Sheikh Sabah will be on Sunday morning and after that she will pay a visit to Kuwait's scientific centre. In the afternoon she will attend a luncheon held for her at the Egyptian Embassy premises.

In the evening she will attend her honouring ceremony by the National Council for Culture and Arts and then attend a dinner banquet given by Information Minister Mohamed Abul Hassan.

On Monday she is to visit Kuwait University accompanied by Higher Education Minister Rashid Al-Hamad.
