Spanish judiciary refuses to release Allouni at a guarantee
Regional-Spain, Politics, 12/18/2004
The Spanish national court has rejected an appeal submitted by al-Jazeera correspondents Teiser Allouni to release him at a guarantee until his trial starts.
The court decided to dispatch doctors to examine him in his prison and define his health condition. The court said in its decision that it will study the situation inside the prison which is close to Madrid and the extent of the ability of the prison authorities to provide required medical care to Allouni.
Media solidarity campaigns continued with al-Jazeera correspondents. Arab media people accredited in Pakistan had called on the Spanish government to immediately release Allouni unconditionally. They called in an official statement on the International Human rights organizations and media establishment to interfere in order to end Allouni crisis.
