Lebanese president stresses Palestinian people's rights

President Emil Lahoud of Lebanon stressed his country's commitment to the Palestinian people's right to return home, calling for the implementation of the UN relevant resolutions.
In a statement Friday, Lahoud pointed out that the UN resolution 1559 coincided with Israel's announcement of its plans to settle the Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Syria and Lebanon, calling upon the international community to beware of such a project.
He considered Israeli attempts to settle the Palestinians as the liquidation of the Palestinian issue and a blow dealt against the Palestinian people's legitimate rights.
He also called upon the Arab states to face the Israeli new-old plan, and to implement decisions issued by Beirut Arab initiative for peace.
