Palestinian Authority accuses Israel of obstructing the elections

Concerning the elections, the Palestinian local rule minister Jamal al-Shoubaki accused Israel of obstructing the elections through arresting five candidates for the municipal and village elections to be held in 26 villages and cities in the West Bank after ten days.

Al-Shoubaki described the detention of the municipality council of Areiha Qaher Hammadeh as well as the detention of four other candidates of al-Dahereyah town as a flagrant violations of the elections and does not help any free elections, at a time when Israel alleged it will work for facilitating the elections.

Meantime, several representatives of Palestinian parties observed a sit-in in front of the headquarters if the legislative council in Ramullah demanding the amendment of the general elections law before making the next legislative elections.
