Al-Qathafi receives chairman of Alcatel on African satellite

The Libyan Leader Muammar al-Qathafi "received last night Seirge Chourok, chairman of the French company Alcatel, which is implementing the African Satellite that will provide telephone and internet services as well as television and radio channels all over Africa," JANA reported yesterday.
The report added "Chairman of Alcatel presented to the Leader a prototype of the satellite, underlining its importance in directly linking Africa with the rest of the world, and which main control center will be in Great Jamahiriya. He explained that the satellite will have a capacity of '32' relays each of which will have a selection of the various multi-purpose channels."
