Continued attacks in Iraq

The US army announced in a statement that one American soldier was killed and another injured in a traffic accident near one of the American positions to the north of Baghdad.
In another statement, the army announced that three American soldiers and one Iraqi civilian were injured on Monday morning in a booby trapped car explosion when one American vehicle was running to the north of Baghdad.
The American army explained that heavy losses were inflected in two armored vehicles.
In another development, two members of the Iraqi national guards and other 7 persons were killed when gunmen attacked a procession for the national guards in the downtown of al- Dajil city to the north of Baghdad.
Seven Iraqis were killed and other 19 injured in a suicide operation in a booby trapped car near one base of the Iraqi national guard at one entrance of the Green Zone in al-Mansour quarters in the downtown of Baghdad. The American army stressed that none of its soldiers was hit in the explosion.
Al-Qaida Organization In The Mesopotamia led by the Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility for the explosion in a statement issued on one of its sites on the Internet.
After the attack, two mortars fell in the surrounding of the area which includes the former presidential palace, the headquarters of the interim Iraqi government and the two embassies of the US and Britain in Iraq. A third shelling fell near a hotel in the downtown of Baghdad.
The American planes bombarded Falluja after seven of marines soldiers were killed on Monday in al-Anbar governorate where the city is situated.
