Morocco-Mauritania-Senegal sea line and Tangier-Dakar road to operate next year
Morocco-Regional, Economics, 12/11/2004

A sea line servicing Casablanca, Nouadhibou (Mauritania) and Dakar and a road linking Morocco's northern city of Tangier to Dakar will operate next year, Morocco's ambassador in Sakara Moha Ouali Tagma, announced this Friday.

"Infrastructure being essential to develop exchanges, the Tangier-Dakar road will be operational shortly and a sea line between Dakar and Casablanca will start next year," the diplomat told the 2nd session of the Moroccan-Senegalese business council.

Assessing economic and trade ties between the two African countries, Tagma deplored that while political relationships have reached an unequalled level of excellence, economic exchanges remain low.

In 2003, trade between the two countries hardly reached 300 million MAD (US$ 30 million).
