Mubarak to hold talks with Sudanese president
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 12/10/2004

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir will pay a visit to Egypt on Sunday for talks with President Hosni Mubarak.

The talks will cover the latest developments in the western Sudanese region of Darfur and current peace talks with the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) in Naivasha in Kenya, in a bid to reach a final peace agreement.

The two leaders will also discuss boosting bilateral ties. Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail said Thursday the Darfur issue will be on top of the agenda between the two leaders.

A five-party committee entrusted with the Darfur crisis, he added, will meet in Cairo on Sunday to follow up the implementation of recommendations of the five-man summit held in Sirte, Libya, on Darfur.

The committee groups the foreign ministers of Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Chad and Nigeria.
