UN official: Egypt has opportunity to gain permanent seat at UNSC

The executive director of the UN Development Program (UNDP) has said Egypt, as a major power in Africa and the Middle East, has a big chance to occupy a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
In statements Wednesday to MENA, M. Brown stressed the need to expand the membership of the UNSC.
Brown, who is currently visiting Yemen, said that defining the country that will occupy Africa's seat within the security Council needed much debate within the council, but he added that Egypt's candidature for the seat enjoyed a high degree of weight.
