Moroccan PM starts official visit to India

Moroccan Prime Minister, Driss Jettou, arrived in New Delhi Monday on a three-day official visit, for talks with Indian officials mainly aimed at boosting bilateral trade.
Jettou, to be received Tuesday by President APJ Abdulkalam, will hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh, covering a vast range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern. He will also hold discussions with several government members of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, as well as with majority and opposition leaders, respectively Sonia Gandhi and LK Advani.
Focus will be made on enhancing economic relations between the two countries. Jettou, who is accompanied by an important delegation, is expected to approach the Indian shipping companies for setting up a permanent shipping line between Casablanca and Mumbai.
The Moroccan delegation will hold talks with Indian industrialists and will take part in the meeting to be held by the business council, created in 2000 to bolster exchanges between the two countries.
The Moroccan Prime Minister will also preside a business meeting organized by the Federation of Indian Trade and Industry Chambers (FICCI) and the Confederation of Industries in India.
Several cooperation accords will be signed during the visit.
Trade exchanges between Morocco and India were estimated at US $342.75 million from April 2003 to March 2004.
Phosphoric acid and phosphates constitute the major Moroccan exports to India.
