Rumsfeld expects the American forces to withdraw from Iraq within 4 years

The US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld expressed his hope that his forces will be withdrawn from Iraq during the second phase of the US President George W. Bush term of office.
Donald Rumsfeld said, upon his stop in Kuwait from which he moves to Afghanistan to attend the celebration the commemoration of Hamid Karazi as a presidentof the country after his winning the elections in September, that there are several reasons for the invasion of Iraq. He said that despite not finding the alleged mass destruction weapons, Iraq has become a better place after the disappearance of the toppled Iraqi president and his friends.
Concerning the American campaign against gunmen who reject its existence in Iraq, the British foreign minister Jack straw said that the American operation against Falluja has weakened the rebel movement but not exterminated it.
Straw said before the foreign affairs committee at the house of commons that the interim Iraqi government and the international community consider that the worst thing that might take place over the elections is their postponement. He considers that the situation is still grave in certain Iraqi areas and very risky in other parts.
Moreover, news reports said that clashes erupted between gunmen and the American forces in Haifa street in the downtown of Baghdad after the deployment of gunmen threatened to kill each and every one who deals with the occupation forces.
In Baqouba, gunmen attacked one officer in the police directorate and this resulted in injuring him together with his driver and two civilians. In the northern part of the city, gunmen bombarded a headquarters for the higher council of the Islamic revolution after evacuating it.
In Sameraa, explosions hit the headquarters of the American forces in the downtown of the city. In Haditha to the west of al-Ramadai three Iraqis were killed and 4 injured in clashes between gunmen and American forces. Three American vehicles were destroyed.
In Jableh to the north of Hella, three members of the Iraqi national guards were killed and other 11 injured in a bomb explosion.
Meantime, al-Sunna supporters group claimed responsibility in a statement issued on the Internet for an ambush implanted on Sunday to the north east of Tikrit and resulted in killing 17 Iraqis working for an American company.
