Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif opens Sunday the Egyptian-Chinese Investment forum, which aims to enhancing economic cooperation between both countries.
The Chinese Ambassador in Cairo said Friday that the Chinese trade Minister will attend the event along with up to 100 businessmen and investors. He said Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rasheed M. Rasheed and Supply Minister Hassan Khedr will also attend the conference.
Trade volume between Egypt and China stands at LE 1,170 billion from January to September 2004 with a 51 percent increase compared to the same corresponding period last year, the Ambassador said.
On the other hand, the Chinese minister of trade will leave Beijing on Saturday heading for Cairo leading a high-ranking delegation including senior officials and more than 100 businessmen on a three-day official visit to Egypt.
Egypt's Ambassador to China Ali Hossam El-Din El-Hefny said the visit is the first to Egypt by the Chinese minister. It comes at an invitation by Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed, he added.
The visit aims at exploring ways to enhance Chinese investments in Egypt, especially the Suez Gulf northwest area, Hefni said. The Chinese official will meet with a number of Egyptian officials, including Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, for talks on means of enhancing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
