A Syrian official source denied on late Monday evening the existence of any mediation carried out by Cairo between Damascus and Tel Aviv. The source said the visit of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's visit today (Tuesday) to Egypt has no connection to this matter.
The source said that the Syrian proposal to resume the negotiations with Israel without prior conditions might be debated during the meeting between the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his Egyptian counterpart in Sharm El-Shiekh, Egypt.
The two Egyptian and Syrian presidents are meeting in the course of a summit meeting described by the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit as very importance Abu al-Gheit said that the Syrian- Egyptian talks will deal with several hot files including the peace process on all tracks, the situation in Iraq and the Egyptian Syrian relations.
