Al-Zawaheri threatens Washington, warns against repeating Baghdad 's scenario
Regional-USA, Politics, 11/30/2004
The second ranking man in al-Qaida organization, Ayman al-Zawaheri, renewed his threats to the US and stressed that his organization will continue fighting America until it changes its policies towards the Arab states.
In a new televised tape broadcast by al-Jazeera TV yesterday, al-Zawahari said that there is no solution "with America, but only to force it to subjugate to the what is right by means of force." He said that results of the American elections are of no concern to him, noting that these elections are "competition to please Israel." He added that the most important thing from his point of view is the way the US deals with Muslims.
He addressed the Americans saying "elect who you want, being Bush or Kerry or even the devil himself. This is not of concern to us. What is of concern to us is to purify our country from the aggressors." In his statement, al-Zawahari warned that the collapse of Baghdad is but an introduction for what other countries might be exposed to. He added that "the fall of Baghdad is a collapse for all regimes which helped in the invasion of Iraq.
However, al-Zawahiri's last appearance was in a tape broadcast by October 1st 2003 in which he called on Muslims to resist the "crusaders campaign in Iraq, Palestine" and threatened in it several other Arab and Asian states.
