British journalist criticizes western media
Iraq-UK, Politics, 11/29/2004

British journalist John Logland criticized the Western media's support to thousands of demonstrators protesting against outcomes of Ukrainian presidential election while ignoring the political will demonstrated by more than two million people who took to London streets against Iraq war.

Logland said the electors in Britain and the U.S. had witnessed how their governments rudely lied to them for one year ahead of Iraq war, adding that such governments are still immune to accountability.

He stressed that this act is a serious breakdown in our democratic system, pointing out that both governments seek to market political illusions that depict the West as a savior for other countries like Ukraine.

He warned that "this act is not a way for camouflage towards our political defects, but it blinded us over the reality of Western intervention in the internal affairs of others countries." For its part, the British newspaper of The Independent said in an editorial that the West had no right to impose democracy on other countries. It added that assistance by other countries should be confined to help not intervention.
