Amman: Humanitarian nationality for children of Jordanian women of Palestinian fathers

The official spokeswoman for the Jordanian government Asmaa Khuder said yesterday that there is a positive intention within the government to deal with the applications of offering children of Jordanian women married of non Jordanians especially from Palestinians through limiting this to humanitarian cases.

She explained that these humanitarian cases including children of a divorced women, the widow and the deserted women who does not know the fate of the father of her children, noting that this matter does not require an amendment in the nationality law because the current law authorizes the Cabinet to the right to approve giving the nationality in certain conditions for non- Jordanians.

She indicated the political sensitivity in regard to the children of Jordanian women married to Palestinians because of their big number and because this goes in contradiction with the inclination to rejecting emptying the Palestinian territories from inhabitants.
