Turkish security report reveals Israel's policy in Iraq
Iraq-Israel, Politics, 11/18/2004
High-level Turkish security bodies have drawn up a report that evaluates Israel's polices on the ground in light of the continued US occupation of Iraq.
Israel has been adopting an active policy since the summer of 2003 through purchasing land and buildings in Iraq, the report said, referring to the purchase of a 6,000-donum land in Kirkuk, 500 houses in Mosul and 2000 donums and 30 buildings in Irbil.
Israel has been carrying out such activities via Jewish Turks in northern Iraq and exerting intensive efforts to encourage Jewish merchants and increasing the size of trade exchange with Iraq through Jordan, according to the report.
Israel is adopting a policy towards Iraq that aims at neutralizing any Iraqi dangers against it in the future.
This policy is based on a number of elements that includes establishing a political and economic power in northern Iraq so that it could operate independently and away from the Baghdad administration, the report said.
