Yemen-Sudan, Local, 11/18/2004
Sanaa, the Arab cultural capital for 2004, is celebrating by the end of December the handing over of the torch of Arab culture to the representatives of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, which will be the Arab cultural capital in 2005.
The Yemeni minister of culture and tourism Khaled Abdullah al-Rweishan said that the celebration which will be held in Sanaa is a tradition set by UNESCO which adopts celebrations of the Arab cultural capitals.
Al-Rweishan indicated that the protocol of handing over the torch of the Arab culture to the Sudanese capital will be held on the sideline of the Sudanese cultural week which is to be held in Sanaa by the end of December this year.
He explained that the Sudanese cultural week program celebrates several cultural, intellectual and artistic manifestations which try to give the true image of the Sudanese culture to Yemen, in its being one of the components of the Arab "rainbow" culture.
