American soldier killed, helicopter downed in Falluja

One American soldier was killed and other three injured in fighting with gunmen to the south of Falluja to the west of Baghdad. Thereby the number of American soldiers killing since the beginning of the attack against the city since one week tolled 38.

In another development, news reports said that one American military copter fell in Amereyat al-Falluja, while gunmen implanted an ambush for an America vehicle near the same area and were able to destroy a military vehicle.

These developments came at a time when the American and Iraqi forces say they are trying to end the last resistance pockets in the city. News reports say that the American tanks were deployed in the streets of al-Shuhadaa ( Martyrs) quarters to the south of the city which used to be considered the last resort for the fighters. The marines continued breaking in and demolishing operations of houses in search for any fighters in various parts of the city.
