Qatar increases its natural liquid gas production
Qatar, Economics, 11/15/2004

Chairman of Qatar's liquid gas company, Faisal al-Sweidi, announced the increase in the amounts of liquid natural gas to exceed expectations at "Qatar Gas 1" following a promotion and modernization operation this year.

Al-Sweidi said in a news report on the sideline of an energy conference in Barcelona that improvements will enable the station to produce 10 million tons of natural liquid gas, while earlier expectations stated the some 9.5 million tons will be produced.

He indicated expectations of the company which collaborates with the American Axon Mobile company and other investors in developing natural gas potentials by delivering one third of the American and European demands estimated at 190 million tons annually by the fall of 2015.

He explained that the company studies at least four projects to establish stations for the imports of liquid natural gas at the coasts of the American Mexico Gulf, where two projects will be selected by the fall of the mid of 2005.

Qatar, which owns the largest gas reserve in the world, seeks to be the largest producer of natural gas in the world by the end of the current decade.
