Palestinian President Yasser Arafat dies

It was officially announced the death of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Percy hospital in France where he was staying.

In a statement read by the secretary general of the Palestinian Presidency al-Tayeb Abdul Rahim in Ramullah "the Palestinian leadership eulogizes to the Palestinian people and the Arab nation and humanity as whole the demise of the great leader, the son of Palestine.. brother Yasser Arafat who passed away at 4.30 a.m. today Thursday at dawn, " local time."

The announcement of the death of Arafat came just hours after the announcement made by the French Prime minister Jan Pierre Ravran that Arafat is living his " last hours." Arafat entered into a deep coma and he was suffering an internal hemorrhage in his brain.

The Palestinian authority has made necessary arrangements in order to maintain peaceful transfer of the authority to that the speaker of the legislative council Rouhi Fattouh will assume the Palestinian authority presidency for 60 days until elections are made.

Trucks and bulldozers in Ramullah have started removing concrete and cement blocks in the surrounding of the Presidential headquarters in preparation to bury Arafat there.

Cairo is due to host Arafat's funeral before he will be buried after that at the headquarters of the presidency in Ramullah, the West Bank.
