Egyptian presidency highlights Syria's positive stances
Egypt-Syria, Politics, 11/8/2004

Egyptian Ambassador and the Spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency Majed Abdulfatah said on Sunday that the UN Security Council resolution 1559 didn't refer by name to Syria, and it didn't accuse or demand anything from Syria, stressing at the same time that Syria deals with the resolution in a tangible positive way.

In a statement, the Egyptian ambassador added that talks between Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak focused today on the necessary moves vis-a-vis the Arab issues after the US President George W. Bush had won the US elections. He referred to the Syrian positive contribution to make the coming conference of Sharm al-Sheikh on Iraq a success. Abdulfatah underlined the necessity of pushing the peace process, and achieving the Israeli full withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan into the line of June 4th 1967.
