American forces seizes Falluja hospital
Iraq-USA, Military, 11/8/2004

The American forces have seized the main hospital in Falluja city in the first hours of today ( Monday morning) and handed it over to the Iraqi forces which detained more than 50 persons who had entered it, giving no details on their identity or the reasons behind their detention.

The Americans refused a request proposed by the director of the hospital Saleh al-Assawi to permit ambulances teams to head into the city and provide medical aid to the wounded and patients in the hospital.

The American forces confiscated light weapons found in the hospital expected to be for its guards. These forces also were able to control the eastern part of the city and tightened control on two bridges on the Euphrates river.

On Sunday evening and today at dawn, Falluja quarters were violently bombarded by the American heavy artillery which were backed by AC- 130 planes and this resulted in injuring 8 Iraqis, according to a medical source.

Witnesses said that American war planes continue since yesterday evening their bombardment of the city intensively while the land forces launched violent clashes with Iraqi gunmen at the eastern and western outskirts of the city.

In the same context, the American forces yesterday bombarded al-Karmeh city situated to the north east of Falluja using artillery, helicopters and tanks. Clashes took place between these forces and the Iraqi forces in Abu Odeh village to the west of Karma near a cement factory.

The American forces built up some 20,000 soldiers around Falluja including 12,000 who are now taking part in the attack against the city. These forces cordoned the city, isolated it and stopped all traffic from and into it.

On the other hand, one American soldier was killed and other four injured in an attack which targeted a military procession on Sunday to the west of Baghdad. Witnesses said that the explosive went off when one American procession was running near a main inspection point on Baghdad's airport and resulted in the destruction of one American military vehicle.
