Washington Post: US concern over disappearance of 4,000 missiles in Iraq

In yesterday's issue, the Washington Post said that the American administration fears that some 4,000 missile of shoulder-borne type that might be used in downing planes had disappeared from Iraq.

The paper quoted a high ranking official in the President Bush administration that they do not know how these missiles which were owned by the toppled Iraqi government disappeared. He expressed fears that the armed groups in Iraq might be in possession of these missiles.

The disappearance of hundreds of tons of explosives in Iraq raised similar concern within the Bush administration and the interim Iraqi government.
