Jordan: prince Hassan calls for pan participation in the Iraqi elections
Jordan-Iraq, Politics, 11/6/2004

Jordan's former crown prince Hassan Bin Talal said that it is in the interests of all to organize the elections and not to exclude any in Iraq.

Prince Hassan, said that "the elections in Iraq should be comprehensive and it is in the interest of all to stress the participation of all sides." He added "we do hope that pluralism in Iraq means getting all sides involved in the context of reconciliation," excluding extremists Islamists groups.

He continued that it seems "the Islamic extremism due to its own nature will be excluded from this operation as well as the followers of the former regime and certain tribes chieftains." He added that ( groups) "cannot be involved or excluded according to temporary political considerations." He considered that "pursuing the policy of exclusion means to the common man in Iraq returning back to the tyrant former regime."

Prince Hassan considered that the September 11 attacks "seems to have led to misunderstanding between the continued war against terrorism, on the one hand, and on the other the need to deal with the reasons behind these group formations noting "that activists in certain conditions might change." He cited an example "The Lebanese Hizbullah Party which has converted to a political party."
