AL conference with Europe on image of Islam

Cairo hosts on 12th of December an Arab- European conference. The conference will be held at the headquarters of the Arab league under the title " Arab- European dialogue: the image of Islam in the school history books in Europe." The conference lasts for three days.

The conference aims at correcting several mistakes pertaining to the image of Islam in the currently taught European school books. The conference will also discuss several issues including the question of Jihad, the situation of women in Islam and rapprochement between Islam and the West.

The three day conference is sponsored by UNESCO, and the European Union in addition to ALESCO ( Arab League Education and Culture organization) and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria.

The conference will be attended by a large number of specialists in history from Arab universities and Arab and European ministries of education and representatives for UNESCO. N.
