Syria, Politics, 11/4/2004
The Syrian human rights activist in Damascus Anwar Al-Bunni announced yesterday that the Syrian authorities released the Syrian researcher, writer and founder of the Liberal Coalition, Nabil Fayyad.
Al-Bunni said that "the political security department released Fayyad on Tuesday after one month of detention over articles speaking of the corruption of the political and economic authorities in the countries and also over his establishment of the Syrian "Liberal Coalition" and declaring himself as its spokesman.
Al-Bunni called on the Syrian authorities to "comply with human rights and close the file of the political detention and release all detainees in Syria."
