Work halted in the three Kuwaiti oil refineries

The three Kuwaiti crude oil refineries which produce 920,000 barrels daily stopped work yesterday following an electricity cut in most areas of the country.
The spokesman for the Kuwaiti national oil company Muhammad al-Hajiri said that the refineries stopped gradually from working after the electricity stopped. He added that the electricity grid stopped from most of areas in Kuwait following a technical failure, noting that work has been continuous to fix it.
Worthy mentioning that oil sector in Kuwaiti have been witnessing active movement for upgrading performance and making a qualitative leap covering its projects, companies and renewal of its fleet.
The Kuwaiti government intends to establish a large project for the national oil company during which the capacity of the company's refineries is renovated, in parallel to the project of establishing the fourth refinery at a cost of 3 billion Kuwaiti Dinars ( $ 10.17 billion).
A high ranking official in the energy sector in Kuwait said that oil production and exportation reestablished after a cut in the electricity grid resulted in blocking the three refineries in the country.
Deputy chairman of the board of the Kuwaiti petro chemical establishment Hani Hussein told the Kuwaiti News agency that electricity supplies returned back to the refinery and it is operating again but he did not specify the time it takes to bring the refineries to full capacity.
