Al-Faisal calls for more forces in Iraq
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 10/29/2004

The Saudi ambassador in Britain, Prince Turkey al-Faisal, said that the foreign forces working in Iraq are not enough to withstand what he called foreign terrorists who continue to flow into Iraq since the invasion led by Washington in April 2003.

In a press interview al-Faisal considered that diminishing the Iraqi security role after the collapse of the government in May 2003 opened the way for foreign fighters to flow into the country, noting that the invasion has not met the ambitions of the American President George W. Bush to eliminate what he calls terrorism in the Middle East.

He added that the number of foreign forces in Iraq is not enough to meet the security demands of the Iraqis, adding that the partition of Iraq at the meantime will constitute a grave threat to world peace because the country is in need of increasing number of volunteers to be recruited in the local security departments.

Al-Faisal reiterated hope that the Saudi proposal to place Arab and Islamic forces in Iraq after the American elections, noting that the deteriorated security conditions in Iraq will affect neighboring states and its impact will extent on other world countries.

The US is deploying 130,000 soldiers in Iraq with Britain which is considered the second largest country participating in the invasion deploying more than 8,000 soldiers.
