The parties affairs committee in Egypt approved the formation if a political party led by lawyer and member of parliament Ayman Nour. This is, however the third time in which the committee green lights a new party since its foundation in 1977.

Al-Wasat: Bahrain shiite council boycotts Islamic affairs minister
The Bahraini daily al-Wasat said yesterday that Shiite men of religion, founders of a new council called "the secular Islamic council" refused to attend a meeting with the minister of Islamic affairs Abdullah Bin Khaled al-Khaleifa after the latter announced that the formation of this council is "a violation to the constitution" and called on its founder to join the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs.

A state of Alert, Suha Arafat is coming back
Part of the developments concerning health conditions of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Israeli officials said that Arafat will be permitted to be admitted to Ramullah hospital or to travel to any place he chooses for medical treatment if it is necessary. The Israeli radio said that the defense minister Shaoul Mofaz renewed his offer this week over Arafat's movement for medical treatment.

Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri on Wednesday stressed that the new Lebanese government is good and able to face all challenges, "since it is an open government for all people without exception." Go

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit said that injustice in handling Arab and Islamic issues is a main factor which stirs unrest and troubles in the region. The Higher State Security Court on Wednesday adjourned hearings on the issue of sabotage actions made by 22 accused Syrians last April in Damascus until next month. The court has held a session of hearings to the accused persons in the operation of disruption which took place at Mazze quarters of Damascus last April. Go

An Israeli military source announced yesterday that a "Qassam" missile fell yesterday in the southern of occupied Palestine, but no casualties were reported. The source indicated that the missile fell in an unpopulated area and that no damages were reported. Go
