A state of Alert, Suha Arafat is coming back
Palestine, Politics, 10/28/2004

Part of the developments concerning health conditions of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Israeli officials said that Arafat will be permitted to be admitted to Ramullah hospital or to travel to any place he chooses for medical treatment if it is necessary. The Israeli radio said that the defense minister Shaoul Mofaz renewed his offer this week over Arafat's movement for medical treatment.

These developments came after Arafat since several days has been suffering from pain in the stomach that needed him to undergo tests by doctors from Egypt and Tunisia who said he had a severe influenza, expecting his health conditions to improve within days. The Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath stressed that doctors ruled out Arafat to have a stomach cancer.

The tense news on the deteriorated health conditions of Arafat pushed hundreds of Palestinians to take the streets heading for his headquarters in Ramullah. Demonstrations also took the streets in several Palestinian cities.

Palestinian security sources described the situation as grave, noting that the Palestinian leadership will discuss in the few coming hours what should be done. Palestinian officials indicated that all leading figures were summoned to Arafat's headquarters in Ramullah.

Those officials explained that the Palestinian leaderships at a lower level are also meeting in other Palestinian towns and cities in the West Bank to discuss the situation.

Moreover, Suha Arafat, the wife of the Palestinian President will arrive in Ramullah within the few coming hours coming back from her house in Paris.
