Syria, Local, 10/27/2004
The International Bird Life Organization for Protecting Birds continued monitoring the Balchon birds ( Abu Minjal) that were recently discovered in Maayouf Mount in the central eastern Syrian Palmyra ( Badia ) area.
Bird expert Adeeb al-Asaad said that the Balshon group immigrated in last June and will return to the Syrian Badia, its origin homeland, next February in its seasonal immigration.
Al-Asaad is a member of the local discoverer team of this rare bird headed by Italian Expert Gianluka Sera.
He pointed out that the International Organization expressed readiness to observe and follow up the immigrations of this rare bird through using the modern monitoring equipment in order to identify precisely its track by satellites and to get acquainted with its way of living, reproduction and diseases that threaten the bird with extinction and death as well as to protect these birds even in areas of immigration.
