Syrian- Russian coordination over Sharm esh Sheikh conference on Iraq

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Monday received the Ambassador-at-large of the Iraqi affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Kirpichenko.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Iraq and the international conference due in Sharm Esh Sheikh next month, as well as importance of coordination particularly between Syria and Russia regarding the Iraqi people's aspirations to independence and unity.

In a statement to SANA staff reporter, Sergei underlined that his meeting with Shara was a good opportunity to discuss the Iraqi issue and the international conference on Iraq, pointing out to Syria's important role as a neighboring country.

He added that the Syrian-Russian relations are good and based on historical background, asserting the active future of those relations for both sides.
