One American soldier, several Iraqis killed in different explosions

Scores of Iraqis were killed or injured on Monday in a series of explosions and attacks in various parts of Iraq. The American army announced yesterday the death of one American soldier and injuring other five when a bomb went off to the west of the capital Baghdad.
Earlier in the day, four Iraqis were killed and other nine injured including three Australian soldiers in an attack that targeted a vehicle for the Australian forces in the downtown of Baghdad yesterday.
A spokesman for the Australian ministry of defense said that this is the first time in which the Australian forces are attacked in Iraq. The news said that the explosion took place in al-Hurriyah ( Freedom) square near the Australian embassy and this resulted in damaging one armored vehicle.
Ambulances hurried to the site of the explosion while the American occupation forces blocked the site of the incident and helicopters flew over it.
Another attack by a booby trapped car targeted the American forces near al-Khaledeyah to the west of Baghdad yesterday morning and this resulted in injuring several soldiers and damaging several vehicles.
In other field developments, three Iraqis were killed and other 21 were injured in clashes between gunmen and forces of the American marines in al-Ramadi yesterday morning.
The American army also announced that two explosives targeted its vehicles in the city but no casualties were reported. In al-Basatin ( farms) are where one policeman was killed and two others were injured when their procession clashed with gunmen yesterday at dawn.
In al-Abbara to the north of Baqouba one member of the Iraqi national guard was killed when he was trying to defuse one explosive implanted near a base that belongs to the guards.
In al-Musil city to the north of Iraq, three persons were killed and other four injured in two booby trapped car explosions that targeted the headquarters of Ninwa governorate and the procession of a high ranking Iraqi security officer.
An attack by explosives targeted part of an internal oil pipeline to the south west of Karkouk in north Iraq. Iraqi sources stressed continued Iraqi oil exports after firemen were able to control the fire in the pipeline which provides Beji refinery with oil.
