Washington calls for international cooperation to end Darfur crisis
Sudan-USA, Politics, 10/22/2004

The White House has called on Sudan to intensify work efforts in order to end the crisis in Darfur but it admitted simultaneously the realization of progress to alleviate the humanitarian sufferings in the region.

A statement by the American presidency said that "despite the efforts made to alleviate pains and human losses, the crisis is till continuous." The spokesman for the American presidency urged in the statement the International community to support the efforts of the African Union and finance programs pertinent to the evacuees, stressing that "we cannot consider this mission to have actually ended only when the people of Darfur return back to their homes, safely." The statement explained that the US offered more than 300 million for food stuffs and building houses and providing basic water and medical services for some 1.5 million evacuees.
