Syria, Politics, 10/21/2004
Priest Botrus Zaour, Spiritual Leader of the National Anglican Church in Damascus has underlined the Arab states' appreciation over the American Presbyterian Church's decision to boycott the American establishments that deal with Israel.
During a meeting with a delegation from the American Presbyterian Church (APC) Tuesday, Zaour praised the Church's strong stance against Israel's occupation and its "inhuman practices against the Palestinian people," pointing out to the Church's great interest in the Arab issues.
For his part, Chairman of the Consultative Committee for Political and Social Work at the APC Priest Harber, explained reasons for boycotting American establishments that deal with Israel, asserting that Israel is oppressing the Palestinians.
He also pointed out that such a step would encourage other American churches to compel Israel to change its "aggressive policies" against the Palestinian people.
He praised religious coexistence in Syria as a cradle of civilizations and religions.
