Jordan accuses 13 including al-Zarqawi of the chemical attack plan

The military attorney general in Jordan addressed official accusations to 13 persons including Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the question of foiling the attempt to launch an attack by chemical weapons in the capital Amman in April this year.

Col. Mahmoud Obeidat, the attorney of the state security court said that 6 detainees will be tried in the case, four fleeing men including al-Zarqawi in absentia. Among the accused persons are three Syrians, one of them is fleeing.

The list of accusation includes conspiracy to commit terrorist acts in Jordan, joining banned groups which are al-Tawhid Wal Jihad led by al-Zarqawi and owning and the manufacturing of unlicensed weapons to use them illegally.

Amman accuses a Jordanian of a Palestinian origin, Azmi al-Jayousi, of leading this group. The Jordanian TV broadcast the confessions made by al-Jayousi in which he explained the schemes of implementing the attack at the headquarters of the Jordanian intelligence.

Al-Jayousi stressed in his confession that the operation was planned in Iraq at direct orders from al-Zarqawi who is suspected of having links to al-Qaida organization.

Worthy mentioning that al-Zarqawi, whose real name is Ahmad Fadel al-Khaleylah fled from Jordan in 1999 and he was sentenced to 15 year in imprisonment in the year 2000 and another death penalty sentence on April 6. 2003 under the charge of being involved in assassinating an American diplomat.

Several days ago, the US increased to $25 million the financial reward given to anyone who gives information leading to the arrest of al-Zarqawi. His group was put on the list of organizations classified as terrorists.
