Libya's people's congress makes pledges about the principals of government

The basic people's congresses in their sessions across Libya, for the second day running, to lay down their agenda for this year 2004, according to the official news agency JANA, pledged to:

First: Absolute belief in great al-Fateh revolution, and ever readiness to preach its eternal tenets, and full allegiance to the leader as a guru and guide and are at the disposal of his wise leadership.

Second: The people's authority is a historic option made by the great revolution, and a distinctive tenet drafted by Muammar al-Qathafi, the peoples congresses and peoples committees are the final fruit of the peoples' struggle for democracy.

Third: Peoples' socialism, is the sound economic solution, it is the option that ensures justice and equality, and we pledge to establish the new socialist society, a private ownership to satisfy the needs without exploiting the others, We confirm our rejection of state capitalism and our surpassing of the exploitative capitalism.

Fourth: Revolution is a declaration of freedom, and for man to be happy he must be free, politically, economically, and socially. We pledge to set up a society where the individual is free of all bondages, the family is free of every oppression, and where women and men are equal.

Fifth: The armed people are invincible, today we pledge to consolidate the theory of the armed people and surpass the idea of traditional armies, and declare out readiness to take part in establishing a new world order free of fear and terror, and where world peace is realized, and the specter of chemical, germ and nuclear weapons is no more.

Sixth: The African Union is the product of the historic role of the bro Muammar al -Gathafi, since he is its founder and inciter, today we declare our unlimited readiness to safeguard it and activate its institutions and incite our Arab nation to build the one Arab-African space.

Seventh: Islam the religion of moderation, today we are committed to the genuine Islam, as wanted by God as a religion for justice, equality and brotherhood, and rejecting apostate movements which distorted Islam, and declare the innocence of Islam from terrorism and condemn the ill intent colonialist campaigns which fight Islam under the pretext of combating terrorism.

Eight: Man is the essence and the bases, today we pledge to be committed to the Great Green Charter of Human Rights of the Jamahiri Era, and call on the world to refrain from offending humans and degrading them, persecuting them and imprisoning them with out a right and with out legal assurances, and to cease the capital punishment exercised without judicial verdicts such as the case in Iraq and in Palestine.
