German judiciary rejects investigation in a complaint against Arab books
Regional-Germany, Politics, 10/11/2004
The German attorney announced on Monday that the German judiciary refused to open an investigation after a complaint was raised in the course of Frankfurt International Book Fair against Arab books suspected to provoke "hatred" to Israel.
The spokesman for the attorney Yurg Cloudy said "we examined the complaint submitted by the Jewish Simon Wiesenthal Center and we could not find elements justifying an immediate case." He added that the attorney will investigate these books to make sure they are not disseminating hatred or not against Israel.
In a message addressed by the fair's organizers on Wednesday, Simon Wiesenthal Center called on the policy to study some books and several books were confiscated on Thursday. The center, in particular, targets a positive book on the founder of the Hamas movement Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and an Egyptian book in the international activities of the Israeli intelligence department (Mossad).
