Prince Nayef: Women will not take part in the elections
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 10/11/2004
Saudi Arabia's minister of the interior said yesterday in Kuwait it is not likely that woman will be permitted to take part in the municipal elections due to be held next year.
He added "I do not think that women will be permitted to take part in the elections." For his part, the Saudi prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz, the brother of the King, said yesterday that poverty and unemployment are the reason behind the despair in the Arabs and the two basic factors which feed terrorism.
Prince Talal explained in Amman that "unemployment creates one of the main pillars for terrorism and the poor who can not ensure food on his table resorts to other means. These are spontaneous human reactions."
