The Moroccan experience in justice fields and in the consolidation of the rule of law, including the creation of the Equity and Reconciliation Instance (IER) was lauded by Juan Mendez, special adviser to UN Secretary General.
Mendez, who is also director of the International Center for Transitional Justice, said "we would like to draw the attention of the Security Council on the Moroccan IER, which represents not only a very promising process, but is also an example for NGOs and the governments of the Middle east, in North Africa and elsewhere."
