Arab al-Yom: Syrian-Jordanian Free Trade Zone

" Syrian-Jordanian Free Trade Zone has became the main land port among Syria, Jordan, neighbouring countries and international ports due to the support that the Syrian and Jordanian governments are offering," Director General of the Syrian Jordanian Free Trade Zone Hasan Khairat said Thursday.

In an interview with Jordanian Arab al-Yom newspaper, Khairat touched upon volume of investments in the zone that reached to 77 commercial investments, 35 services and 13 industrial invested in the different fields.

The zone aims at improving inter-Arab trade between Syria and Jordan through facilitating and increasing movement of goods and encouraging new investments that will serve the two countries.

" About 32000 lorries loaded with goods from the free zone have entered the Syrian and Jordanian gates in preparation to be exported." He said pointing out that volume of the commercial work in the zone amounted to $ 800 million.
