More hostages in Iraq
Iraq, Local, 10/8/2004

A site for the Ansar al-Sunnah army on the Internet announced that it holds one Kurd from supporters of the Kurdistani Democratic Party working as a translator for the American army in al-Ramadi to the west of Baghdad.

The statement read that "al-Tawhid Lions" arrested Ali Luqman Hussein Muhammad, who is of a Kurdish origin from Dahouk working as a translator for the American forces in al-Ramadi, adding that preliminary investigations were made with him and he had admitted he was taking part with the American forces upon breaking into al-Ramadi houses.

The statement did not define the fate of the hostage, but al-Ramadi police announced on Wednesday finding the body of one Iraqi working as a translator for the American army, killed by bullets near the city.

Concerning the question of foreigners, the former Indonesian hostage said in an interview published in Jakarta that her kidnappers were thinking that she was married to an American soldier after they found a picture with her.

On the negotiations between the people of Falluja and both the Interim government and the American government to control the situation in Falluja, negotiator Sheikh Khaled al-Jumeili will shortly lead to fruitful results.

The Interim Iraqi government seeks to impose its control on the city and the positions of influence by the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader before the parliamentary elections in January next years.

Sheikh al-Jumeili a member in the Mujahideen Shoura council said that pending simple issues between the two sides will be discussed next Saturday.
