Hamas vows to revenge the Israeli forces
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 10/8/2004
Ezz Eddine al-Qassam groups, the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, vowed to continue launching missiles against Israel even if the Israeli army withdraws from Gaza.
In a press conference in Gaza, activists said that al-Qassam groups are working seriously to develop al-Qassam missiles "and we will surprise the enemy by these missiles," stressing that the next attacks will be painful and in the Israeli depth. For its part, the Israeli government vowed to continue military operations in Gaza until the launching of Palestinian missiles against Israel will stop.
This decision was taken following consultations between the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and the defense minister Shaoul Mofaz and the army chief of staff and chairman of the internal security "Shein Beit," Ave Dichter.
Sharon said after the meeting "we will continue the operation until we achieve our objectives." Political sources ruled out Sharon to change his position despite the international pressures, making use of the American veto at the UN Security Council against a draft resolution that asks Israel to stop its operations in Gaza.
